Xena Original Chakram Run 2026 #2

Good day Xena chakram aficianados,

By now, you probably have 19 hash marks scratched into the wall of a secret room, into which you retreat when the stress of waiting for chakram news becomes unbearable. No doubt, it is filled with slowly undulating lava lamps, the heavy, pungeant smoke of burning incense, and a few psychadelic black light posters. I hope this news will imbue you with the strength to reenter the land of the living, absorb some sunlight-borne vitamin D, and report to your job once again. Oh, and please check the fridge to see what's gone bad in the last 19 days.

After fielding 20 or so quotes and proposals, I have chosen a company to proceed with. They have experience making decorative metal parts, including larger pieces like furniture, decorative light fixtures, architectural details, etc. Their finishing work looks top notch, and they can finish parts with compound curves. Communication is good, and they can help with packaging.

It took some negotiating, but I finally convinced them that they do not need to make these on a CNC machine. They received my hand-finished sample safely today. Once they examine it, their quote might change slightly.

Speaking of their quote, it will be higher than the ones I got last year. The final tally is still to be determined - chakram, display stand, packaging, freight, and import duties are far from final. I still hope the estimated price I put on the website is realistic.

I will proceed with a paid sample (the mold will be the largest expense) but I will have a contract this time to protect me in case the sample is a failure. I would expect about three weeks before there is any new development. While I am waiting, I will be moving forward with packaging design.

When the final sample is approved, and costs have been calculated, and the "go" order issued to the foundry, I will open this up for preorders.
