Sure, you could buy yourself a new Denix C-96, and enjoy the satisfaction of buying all the tools, spending days working out the details, turning that Denix into scrap metal and buying a new one, etc. Or you could let us do all that for you so you can enjoy assembling your own DL-44 and enjoying the results!
We start with a brand new Denix C-96 Mauser replica. If you're not familiar with those, they are completely cast metal with functioning bolt, trigger, and hammer. The grips are wood grained plastic (very realistic looking.)
We strip it down completely sorting out the pins, screws, springs, etc. We remove the lanyard ring on the handle and discard it.
The lower frame portion is then milled on the left side like the original. The right side has pilot holes drilled at the proper location and spacing to align with the scope mount bracket. The holes are then drilled and tapped for the scope bracket mounting studs.
The upper receiver part goes under the saw to remove the barrel. Then it goes into our custom jig and a pilot hole is placed in the exact location for the barrel. The holes are then drilled, and the face trued and the receiver milled to the finished length. Then the threads are added for the barrel.
Lastly, everything is reassembled and a new screw is inserted under the barrel (the old screws are too long now since they will protrude into the barrel threads.)
Like I said, you could do it yourself!
