I make these with the same techniques and materials as the boots used by the main stars of shows like "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and "Xena: Warrior Princess". They get their unusual look from the fact that there are sneakers inside. I'm told they are quite comfortable!
I start with a pair of athletic shoes and build full uppers and soles around them. I use top quality leather and hardware. The fronts lace up through antiqued eyelets. The backs feature faux laces from the ankle to the top. The soles have wrap-around covers with sole protectors on the bottoms.
