HILLARY CHARLES of York, Pennsylvania (LEFT)
made this outfit from scratch! The dress is vinyl and the breastplate is
made from latex. To make her breastplate she started with a frame made of coat hangers
to which she glued metal mesh using a hot glue gun. Then she sculpted the
details out of plasticine modeling clay. She poured molds from plaster (in
five parts) and then cast the detail pieces from liquid latex which she
had pre-colored with gold paint. After it had cured (it takes a while) she
glued all the pieces to the wire armature. Wow! The chakram is real
aluminum which a friend helped her make. Battle on, Hillary! |
